This week 1st – 7th June is National Volunteers’ Week. It is a chance for Radio Wexham to thank it’s members for their commitment to the Station and the joy they bring to the Patient’s of Wexham Park Hospital. Our Station Chairwoman and Hospital Broadcasting Trustee, Melanie Ive, has written a blog for Volunteers’ Week about Hospital Radio for the NHS England website. Please read it and hopefully it will help you understand why we love volunteering at Radio Wexham – Music and Health make for a perfect harmony – Mel Ive
A song you like comes on the radio; how many times does it bring a smile to your face and lift your spirits?
Or the song you had as the first dance at your wedding, a family favourite, a song linked with a loved one. How does it make you feel?
Music has been used in medicine for thousands of years. Ancient Greek philosophers believed that music could heal both the body and the soul. Native Americans have used singing and chanting as part of their healing rituals for millennia….
As we are a Charity, we can’t physically reward our members but we can shout out loud about them and tell everyone how great they are, and that is what we have been doing all week!
Once again, a big…
…to all our Members who help make Radio Wexham great!
