On Saturday 7th June the Radio Wexham team were prepared with waterproofs to brace the rainy surroundings of the Stoke Poges Fete. Rather ironically the first song selected to play was “Walking on Sunshine” through the down-pour, but it seemed to work and once people started arriving, the clouds cleared and the sun came out to accompany the summer tunes being played out from our stall.
Throughout the day entertainment was provided in the form of the YMCA, Macarena and Cha Cha Slide to name a few, of course accompanied by the appropriate dance moves as demonstrated by our very own mascot, Clucky!
Local villager Vic took over the microphone for the day and we were able to sample the excellent food stalls and watch dances and dog shows provided by the local crowd.
We were also given the opportunity to have a Tombola to help us fundraise and meet our £5,000 year target! Luckily it proved popular with so many people winning at once that it was very difficult to find all the prizes at first, but we soon learnt to put them in numerical order and everything went smoothly in the end, raising a total of £190! A big thank you to all of the Radio Wexham team who helped out and donated prizes for the Tombola!
