Putting us through our Paces!

On March 22nd Radio Wexham joined Sainsbury’s for a day of full on Fundraising in aid of Sport Relief.

We had an early start at the Station on Saturday morning to collect our outside broadcasting equipment and take it down in a motorcade of cars! Arriving at Sainsbury’s for after 9 we had a busy few minutes getting set up, once done we had Station Manager Mel as our resident DJ playing all the greatest cheesy pop hits; YMCA, Macarena and of course the Sport Relief single of 2014, the “Word Up!” cover by Little Mix.

We had some fantastic interaction with the public this year, with lots of young kids dancing along and really getting involved! Our mascot Clucky was also with us, and this time the costume was donned by many of our members- big thanks to Laura, Reece, Adam, Dan, Tyler, Beth, and Aaron who all did fantastic work engaging with the Customers!

An extra special mention goes to Adam with his extremely energetic turn as Clucky and his press-ups, sit-ups and jumps alongside his “trainer” Anil! It was a long day working until 4pm and and then to the hospital to offload and pack away but every penny raised will be going to a worthwhile cause!

It is thanks to the generosity of the public that Charities such as Sport Relief are successful every year and the amount of coins we got in our buckets certainly leads us to believe it was a successful event – at a guess it would be more than the massive £600 we raised last year for Radio Wexham! We don’t yet know the final amount that we helped to raise for Sport Relief but we will keep you posted!
